Prof Jia Weijia, Vice President (Research and Development) of UIC, opened up the ceremony. He expected UIC's students could gain basic knowledge on AI through practical experiences in the Association and try to realise some innovative ideas in the commercial world. UIC has created a special fund to support and encourage undergraduate scientific research, and students can carry out scientific research in UIC's AI base and the laboratory.

Yang Fuming, a fourth-year student from the Applied Psychology Programme, president of the Association, has completed his internship in the Centre for Brain Science of Harvard University in 2019. He participated in projects related to Confocal Microscopic imaging technique, 2D painting, 3D remodelling, gaining relevant experience and resources. He hopes to convert his ideas into doable projects, bringing UIC students more opportunities to participate in scientific research projects.

Currently, 40 students from different Programmes, including Computer Science and Technology, Data Science, Applied Psychology and Accounting, have joined the Association. Besides, Prof Jia Weijia and Prof Zhang Hui, Programme Director of CST Programme, act as the instructors. The Association is implementing the projects, including the study on pluralistic education system of K-12, and planning to cooperate with UIC 3D Innovation Development Lab and other technology companies on relevant experiencing software production.

UIC Turing AI Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Association were founded by UIC students and supported by a research base and key laboratory in UIC and Guangdong Province. It strives to deliver AI-related technology and knowledge to students with interests and passions in this area and assist students to establish a project or entrepreneurial team on the practice in the field of AI.
